Alternate plan options in Cerbo allow you to document various kinds of recommendations or treatment plan items beyond medications, orders, and vaccines. For example:

  • Supplements that you prescribe/ recommend to patients
  • Custom nutritional, exercise/ movement, or follow up recommendations
  • Hormone pellets used in hormone replacement therapy
  • Injections (other than those that would be documented as prescription meds)
  • IV therapy

For more information on Alternate Plans items and categories, see Creating and Managing Alternate Plan Items.

General

Both prescription medications and supplements appear in a block on the patient's dashboard. These settings control how supplements are listed, and how supplements are handled in the context of Encounter Notes.

Supplements in the patients Supplements block should be listed

Choose whether the patient's supplements should be shown in reverse-chronological order based on expiration date, if specified, or by when they were added, alphabetically, or by "class" (which can be manually defined for each supplement).

Allow editing of supplement recommendations added in an encounter note that has since been signed

Choose whether or not supplement recommendations can be edited if the encounter note the supplement was prescribed in has since been signed.

Supplement free text note is plain text or rich text

The free text area at the bottom of the Supplement block can be plain text (text-only), or rich text, which allows for formatting like bold, italics, colors, etc.

When the patient's supplement list is pulled into the encounter note text using the [[pt_supplements]] text variable in a Chart Part...

Choose whether to include or omit the patient instructions for each supplement, and the free text supplement note when using a text variable within a Chart Part template to pull a patient's supplement list into the encounter note.

Printable Supplement Plan

The Supplement Plan is a printable/ savable document that can be generated to show all of the patient's current supplements, with dosing information. It is generated by clicking on the double box icon at the top of the patient's Supplements block.

Add a 'Starts On' column to the Supplement Plan

This setting allows you to turn on a "starts on" column, where the desired start date for each supplement can be manually added.

Customize the title of the Supplement Plan document and the document tab/ category that it saves to

You can customize the default title of the Supplement Plan document that you generate, and which category/ tab in the patient's documents block that it saves to.

Should saving the Supplement Plan default to creating a document to share with the patient?

If you primarily use the supplement plan to organize and annotate the patient's supplements for your own or internal clinic reference, you can turn off the option to default to creating a document to share with the patient when the supplement plan is saved.

Exclude "admin" (patient-reported) supplements from the supplement plan

Supplements that are patient-reported versus prescribed by the clinic are marked as "Admin" records in the patient's supplement list. You can use this setting to customize whether or not Admin supplements are included on the Supplement Plan.

Immediately exclude discontinued supplements from the supplement plan

When supplements are discontinued (by right clicking, selecting the option to discontinue, and confirming), those can immediately be excluded from the Supplement Plan. Or they can stay on the Supplement Plan (marked as discontinued) for 3 days.

Custom "Alternate Plan" Recommendations

Supplements in Cerbo are a category within "Alternate Plan." You can add other categories of prescribable item, and discrete recommendations within each category, to your Alternate Plan. This would be for things like IVs, pellets, and nutritional recommendations that you may want to add to a patient's Plan. For more information, see Prescribing Supplements, IVs, Nutritional Recommendations, and other Alternate Plan Options.

Add tabs for the following custom alternate plan categories to the Medications/ Supplements block

You can set up to 3 of your custom alternate plan categories to show up as additional tabs within the Medications/ Supplements block in the patient's chart. This allows for extra visibility of what has been recommended for that patient in those categories, without checking individual past encounter notes.

Default locations for hormone pellet insertions

If you do hormone pellet insertions, you can set up a category in your alternate plan for Pellets. Within that category, you would add the different pellets that you use. When you add a pellet to the Plan for a patient, there is an associated insertion profile. And this setting allows you to customize the options in that insertion profile for the hormone pellet insertion locations.
