Use these settings to configure how vitals are recorded and shown in Patient charts. All settings can be overridden for different locations (if you have multiple locations) and for individual EHR users.
The vitals included in the EHR are not necessarily the same as those shown to the patient on their My Vitals page in the Patient Portal. See the "My Vitals" section of System Settings - Patient/ Client Portal.
Include "pulse" on the blood pressure graph
You can include or exclude pulse from the data shown on the patient's blood pressure graph. If included, it will be shown as a separate line (along with systolic and diastolic), with a color-coded key.
Include Body Surface Area (BSA) on the Height graph
Include or exclude Body Surface Area (BSA) on the height graph using this setting. BSA is a calculation of the surface area of a body, based on height and weight. If included, BSA is shown as a separate line on the Height graph.
Show BMI graph/ history
You can choose to have BMI history shown on the weight graph, separately in it's own graph (but only for patients aged 2+), or not shown. If you choose not to show the patient's historical BMI readings, then you will only see their most recent BMI reading on the main Patient Vitals block.
Display weight in pounds and ounces by default for patients under 40lbs
When entering weight in imperial, you can choose to do so using decimals, or pounds and ounces. This setting allows you to view weights below 40lbs in pounds and ounces by default when hovering over the patient's most recent weight in their chart, and when looking at their vitals history.
Show pediatric percentiles and growth charts for pediatric patient's height, weight, and head circumference
If you see pediatric patients, you can use this setting to include percentiles and growth charts for pediatric height, weight, and head circumference. Those percentiles are based off of WHO growth curves for patients 0-2, and then on CDC growth curves for patients over 2.
Note that Head Circumference is a "custom" vital that you would add under Admin > Manage > Vitals to track on patients' charts.
Unit of measurement for weight readings in the EHR
Choose between imperial (lbs or lbs and oz) and metric (kg) for recording and viewing patients' weight readings in the EHR.
Unit of measurement for height readings in the EHR
Choose between imperial (in) and metric (cm) for recording and viewing patients' weight readings in the EHR.
Unit of measurement for head circumference readings in the EHR
Choose between imperial (in) and metric (cm) for recording and viewing patients' head circumference readings in the EHR. Note that this setting only applies to graphing in the patient chart, so you will also want to make sure that the units match under Admin > Manage > Vitals.
Sort order for historical vitals readings in the "Vitals History"
Choose to view historical vitals readings oldest first or newest first.
